Mixes for your weekend

Yes yes. It's friday again, and I've encountered some nice mixtapes this week, so it's time to share these findings with you, our dear reader(s). This time all the mixes are drum'n'bass. No house or techno or any other crap.

Have a listen, and enjoy your weekend.

Mark Slavin - Atmospheric Session March 2013

First we have an atmospheric drum'n'bass mix from one of my favourite DJ's, Mark Slavin from Tallinn, Estonia. I'll let him describe the mix:
"A selection of mostly new atmospheric/liquid sounds, dedicated to this year's winter which is reluctant to leave and give way to the spring."

Adam Elemental - Guest Mix for BunZer0

Adam Elemental, who used to call himself just Elemental back in the day, is/was one of my favourite dubstep producers with releases on labels like Hotflush, Destructive and his own label Runtime.
These day's he's doing drum'n'bass, and his guest mix for BunZer0's show on SUB.FM showcases his new tunes and some of the stuff he's been feeling recently.
Btw, grab a free track "Lonely Planet" from his forthcoming "Exile" Ep via XLR8R.

Bop x Abstract Elements Organic Guest Mix

I don't know why is this called Bop & Abstract Elements, because Abstract Elements = Bop + Diagram.
Anyway, these guys from St. Petersburg made a dope guest mix for Organic. Check it out. It's dope.

Phuture-T presents: The Eastern Promise Audio Show, Jungletrain.net 15-03-2013

Now here's a long mix. Almost 4 hours of all kinds of cool drum'n'bass, from the last friday's Eastern Promise Audio radio show hosted by Phuture-T. From dubby steppers to dark moody vibes to badass drumfunk choppage action.

Mixes for your weekend

Hello there. I've encountered some nice mixtapes lately, and it's also friday, so it's time to do one of these posts. Party music for your weekend. Woohoo!

Fanu's Breaks 'n' Beats Podcast #1

We're starting with a brand new podcast from the one like Fanu. This is a dope tape. It contains of all kinds of cool drum'n'bass styles, but surprisingly most of it is on the more breaky side. Like. That's a really big surprise.
Der Fanumeister has written a blog post about the mix too, with comments on each track of the mix. Check it out. Hope #2 gets released soon too.

DJ Hexe - V'Ger

Next up we have a mix by a Finnish producer and DJ called Hexe from Virrat, Finland.
It's an electro mixtape, and as a fan of proper electro I was more than happy to check this out and have a listen, and it's dope. Great scifi electro all the way and 100% vinyl too. Check it out.

SSLLOOWW TAPES - ssllooww down

The last mix comes from a Melbourne-based (I think) blog called Ssllooww tapes. It's recorded by Rory McPike whose drum'n'bass tunes have appeared every now and then in our podcasts. It's an ambient/downtempo/artsywhateverhipstermusic mix, perfect for taking it easy and chilling. No tracklist yet unfortunately, but there are tracks for example from Four Tet, Boards Of Canada, Aphex Twin and local Melbourne producers, including Rory himself. Apparently part 2 is coming at some point too. Hopefully soon.

Mixes for your weekend

Hello there. I decided to compile a little post about mixes I've been listening to lately. I might make it a habit later. Possibly.

ElHornet - Audio Couture mix

First we have a mix from ElHornet of Pendulum. Now, some people might just want to skip this mix because of the P-word, but don't. ElHornet is a sick dj who knows his music, and this mix is about Moving Shadow's sister label Audio Couture.
This definitely made me want to go shopping for 2nd hand vinyl in discogs.

Pedestrian - Boiler Room mix

I've posted a mix from Pedestrian to this blog once, and you should definitely check it out if you haven't yet.
Anyway. This is his set from Boiler Room last month/year. Some good housey postdubstep bassmusic whateverthefuckyoucallit stuff, and some interesting remixes of classic dnb tunes too.
If you want video of the set too, check the Boiler Room site

DJ Q^Art - Seismic Force

Now here's a hectic drumfunk mix from DJ Q^Art from Ekaterinburg, Russia. The description of the mix is "A turbulent journey through randomized drum patterns and abstract sounds" and it pretty much tells it all. DRUMS.

St. Laurent - This is what I call Jungle

The last mix for this post is from one of the scientists. This mix was recorded almost 4 years ago, and I hadn't even checked this one out before, until someone bumped this thread on our local dnb forum.
As the name suggests, it's a jungle mixtape.

Download / Tracklist

So uhm. That's it for now, here's something for you to listen for a while I suppose. Hope you have a good weekend!

Fistfunk - Fistfunk EP [Lightless]

Some pretty interesting and stongly acclaimed musical madness was released today on Lightless Digital.

The artist in question is Fistfunk with his self-titled EP. Make sure to keep this name in mind. For starters, check out his Soundcloud and/or Facebook page. Also check out this interview at FanuMusic.com.

The EP itself is available for purchase at such digital outlets as Digital Tunes.

LIGHTLESSFREE001: Fanu - Trouble / Desert

Now this should be good news for friends of chopped breakbeats: Fanu has decided to give away 2 brand new tracks on his website. His original plan was to build an ep around these tracks, but things happened and he decided to give these tunes away for free. And as the catalogue number suggests, this might not be the last free Lightless release.

Do we mind? No we don't. These tunes are dope.
