This is Drum & Bass US Series: Method One

This is Drum & Bass are doing a series of interviews with drum'n'bass dj's and producers from the United States to see what's going on on the other side of the pond. First one to feature in this series is Method One.

The seasoned DJ, producer, and label front man took the chance to talk about his introduction to drum and bass, how the US and global scenes have changed over the years, as well as commenting on what’s both right and wrong with the D&B of today. He also shared a few choice words about dubstep and piracy, while sharing some sage advice for those looking to break in to the scene….

It's a great interview and worth reading. Check it out.

Radio: Drum'n'bass show with Fanu feat. Science HKI @ Basso radio 05/18/2012

Another Basso Radio related post here. As mentioned in the previous post, we did a little guest appearance last night in Fanu's show. The show has some dope track selection by the F-man, an interview, b2b2b2b mixing by us and some questionable mic action. Hope you enjoy the show, we had fun. Also make sure you check out our debut show on the same radio station if you haven't yet. And if you're in the front page, that's the post below this one.

Radio: Drum'n'bass Show with Science Hki @ Basso Radio 05/11/2012

As promised, here's the recording of our first show on Basso Radio. We were a bit nervous at first, which you can maybe hear. Hopefully we'll be more relaxed when doing the next show, which will be 8th of June, 10-12 PM CET+1.

Make sure you tune in to Basso on friday for the Drum'n'bass Show, this week hosted by Fanu, as we're going to do a little guest appearance there with some interview stuff and b2b2b2 mixing.

Actually, make sure you tune in to Basso Radio every friday night for the Drum'n'bass show with different hosts each week.

Fistfunk - Fistfunk EP [Lightless]

Some pretty interesting and stongly acclaimed musical madness was released today on Lightless Digital.

The artist in question is Fistfunk with his self-titled EP. Make sure to keep this name in mind. For starters, check out his Soundcloud and/or Facebook page. Also check out this interview at FanuMusic.com.

The EP itself is available for purchase at such digital outlets as Digital Tunes.

Mix: Arctic Bass - Science Hki takeover with Trisector & St. Laurent

Here's a link of a b2b mix we did on Arctic Bass show on nsbradio.co.uk last saturday. It's mostly drum'n'bass, although I did play some 115 bpm house kind of stuff in the beginning.

If you want to know more about the show, check out the Facebook page. It is actually a mostly breakbeat/dubstep oriented show I'm doing with couple of friends as Takomo, but every now and then we do something different, like this show :)

Anyway, download the mp3, and you can click "read more" for the full tracklist.

LIGHTLESSFREE001: Fanu - Trouble / Desert

Now this should be good news for friends of chopped breakbeats: Fanu has decided to give away 2 brand new tracks on his website. His original plan was to build an ep around these tracks, but things happened and he decided to give these tunes away for free. And as the catalogue number suggests, this might not be the last free Lightless release.

Do we mind? No we don't. These tunes are dope.

Science Classics & Favourites #9 - Higher Sense - Lock Up

OK, besides being just a favourite, this one's also a personal opinion; Jungle at its purest essence, stripped down to just bare essentials. Nothing fancy needed, just a fat warm bassline, properly built rhythm to keep it rolling and some samples thrown in to give it a distinction. Released on Moving Shadow, my favourite label.

What happened to "just plain nice" tunes anyway?

Fanu presents: All Fanu mix volume 7

Fanu presents: All-Fanu Mix Volume 7 by Fanu

Science Hki goes jungletrain.net (at least for a couple of monts)

A friend of ours, Docius has been hosting his own show called Viidakkorumpu on jungletrain.net for a couple of years now. Viidakkorumpu could be translated as "Jungle Drum" in english and that should already tell enough about the show's agenda, as Docius tends to drop some gritty street style jungle and 90's drum'n'bass, with some new crispy beats dropped every now and then in his own uncompromising style.

He's now travelling somewhere on the other side of the world, and VVR and Axu (or according to website, Axxx) are going to host the show, with occasional guests, for the next few months. The show airs live from Helsinki every 2nd week, starting today at 2:30 PM GMT. Check from the schedule how that places on your time zone, and make sure you tune in!
